Current Relationship Status: It’s Complicated with Netflix

If only I had been able to enjoy binge watching Season 3 of House of Cards while eating my bogo sushi, then this Valentine’s Day would have been perfect. Unfortunately my HoC date with Netflix will have to wait until February 27.

Last Wednesday, House of Cards pulled a Beyoncé and briefly leaked the first 10 episodes of the new season on Netflix, and many lucky Netflix users were fortunate enough to see a sneak peek (unfortunately, I was not one of them). Minutes later they quickly removed the series, crushing our dreams and restoring our productivity levels for the weekend.

Netflix responded:

“Due to a technical glitch some Underwood fans got a sneak peak. He will be back on Netflix on February 27th.”

The official House of Cards Twitter account wittily responded:

The official Francis Underwood Twitter account also responded:

And fans freaked out on Twitter, sharing their reactions alongside the hashtag #HouseOfCards. I’m left wondering…was this actually a technical glitch or a marketing ploy by Netflix? Either way, people are talking about it. Even with the release of the 50 Shades of Grey movie, Valentine’s Day/Carnival/Mardi Gras festivities, and all other worldly happenings, House of Cards has been put back on people’s radars. Bravo, Netflix, bravo.
